My favorite club is Chelsea F.C. I haven't been watching football longer than I would have liked. But, I remember when I was much younger watching a game between Chelsea and another team that I can't remember. But I saw Lampard nail an amazing shot, and instantly, I loved "the blue team". From then on, I've been a devoted Chelsea fan. I love everyone on the team, and can't stand to watch any of them go. I love the fire that burns in the team, fighting to win the dreaded Champions League that has long evaded them. Also, I love the navy blue. Everyone else seems to be red, or maroon and light blue. Why? I love how they stand out. Also, I love the idea of Roman Abramovich. Now, I'm not a total fan of "buying our way to glory", but it's much better than having very little funding at all. I'd rather have Roman than some no name who doesn't care about the team. Roman's pride and joy is Chelsea, and I highly doubt that there's many people that care more about it then he does. Also, I love the Bridge. The way it looks, plus, the history behind Stamford Bride. I'm a fan of history, and Stamford Bridge was the place Harold had to go defend right before he met William the Conqueror at the Battle of Hastings. Everyone always tells the story in William's favor, but what about Harold, the one who was actually named King of England? I think that story is a lot like Chelsea and Manchester United. London is the capitol of England, hence, a lot like Harold. Manchester United invaded (William) and defeated Harold. I love the connection, and personally, I'm a Harold fan.
My favorite player is Fernando Torres. My family is Spanish in heritage, so, I always joke about how he's my "cousin". The man is a scoring wonder. I didn't watch him a lot at Athletico, I really began watching him at Liverpool. Man, that guy is amazing. Fast, lighting speed, deadly accuracy. He's a killer striker. I love watching him get a 1 on 1 break and juking out the keeper. And the day I found out that he was going to Chelsea, my favorite club, my heart stopped. "El Nino" is awesome, and he is most definitely my favorite player.
My favorite national team is Spain. The first international competition that I watched intensely was the Euro 2008, and as I said before, my family is Spanish. Plus, I was already a Torres fan. I watched the competition, and learned everything I could about soccer. Watched and learned qualifying, watched and learned group stages, and watched and learned the rules. Plus, when Spain won, I was really excited, and kept with them. La Furia Roja. I followed the Spaniards all the way until now, which includes their World Cup Victory in 2010. My ancestors were Spanish, my favorite player is Spanish, and they're incredible to watch. They fit into my repertoire perfectly.
